After getting the official birth certificate of a child born in Egypt, it must be translated at either the Egyptian ministry of Health or at the civil department of the Egyptian ministry of interior (Ahwal Madaneya at Abbasseya). The translation must then be legalized by the legalization office of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Marriage abroad

Civil marriage is issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Justice. A declaration prepared by the Canadian citizen, and witnessed by the Embassy of Canada in Cairo, is requested. Canadian citizens can email the consular section of the Embassy of Canada to Egypt, in Cairo at cairo.consular@international.gc.ca to request information.
Notarial services
There are changes to authentication services in Canada.
As per the information available at Using Canadian documents in countries that aren’t signatories of the Apostille Convention, since January 11, 2024, ¶¶ÒùÊÓƵ started to issue apostilles for all documents, even if applicants intend to use them in a country that is not a signatory of the Apostille Convention.
To use a document in a country that is not a signatory of the Apostille Convention, this document should be authenticated by a competent authority in Canada and then legalized by the foreign representative office of the country of destination. For information on a non-signatory country’s legalization requirement, .
Since Egypt is not one of the signatory countries of the Apostille Convention, to be able to use a Canadian document in Egypt, please communicate with the nearest Egyptian Embassy/consulate in Canada to request authentication of the Canadian document. When you submit the document in Egypt, it should be legalized by the legalization office of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for legalization.
