Consular officials do not provide any legal advice or represent a person in court. This office provides certain notarial services (fees apply), by appointment only, to Canadian citizens and, in limited cases, to non-Canadian citizens if the documents are intended for use in Canada. In El Salvador
This office can only issue apostilles for certain Canadian original documents, such as the long form birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates from any province/territory or RCMP criminal record checks issued in Ottawa*. A scanned copy of the document should be sent to this office at ssal@international.gc.ca beforehand to ensure the service can be provided.

Salvadoran documents for legal use in Canada
Canadian law does not require the authentication or apostille of foreign public documents before they can be used in Canada. However, some individuals or institutions in Canada may require it.
El Salvador is also a member of the Apostille Convention. Therefore, if you have a Salvadoran document intended to be used in Canada, you can apply for an apostille at (in Spanish and English only).
Certified copy (certify the document is a true copy of the original):
- Documents presented by a Canadian citizen or a non-Canadian citizen for use in Canada; exceptions apply (fees apply).
- Government-issued identification requiring a certified true copy (fees apply).
Witness a signature (consular officer witnesses a signature):
