If a non-impediment letter is requested by local authorities, the Embassy will issue an in-lieu of non-impediment letter upon request. Fees apply. Notarial services

The consular services of the Embassy of Canada to Jordan provide certain notarial services by appointment only, to Canadian citizens and, in limited cases, to non-Canadian citizens if the documents are intended for use in Canada. The documents submitted must be in English or French or accompanied by an official translation in English or French.

Authentication services for Canadian documents

The Apostille convention came into effect in Canada on January 11, 2024. The Apostille will simplify the acceptance of Canadian public documents in the more than 120 countries that have signed the convention.

For more information, consult the list of . Please note that Jordan is not party to the Apostille Convention.

As of January 11, 2024, Canadian diplomatic missions overseas will issue apostilles for all documents, even if you intend to use them in a country that is not a signatory of the Apostille Convention.

If you need to use a document in a country that is not a signatory of the Apostille Convention, you may need to get it authenticated by a competent authority in Canada and then have it legalized by the foreign representative office of the country of destination.

This service is to certify that a document is a true copy of the original.

The Consular services of the Embassy of Canada to Jordan can certify true copies of certain Canadian documents for Canadian citizens and, in limited cases, for non-Canadian citizens if the documents are intended for use in Canada.

You must present the following:

  • Original documents in English or French for which you need certified true copies
  • A valid official ID

Note: The Embassy of Canada to Jordan will not certify a true copy of academic transcripts, report cards, diplomas or certificates from Canadian institutions. You may consider having these documents authenticated and legalized by the competent authorities in Canada. Please consult Changes to authentication services in Canada.

Witness a signature, affidavit, sworn statement

  • Documents presented by a Canadian citizen or a non-Canadian citizen for use in Canada; exceptions apply.
  • The documents submitted must be in English or French
  • You need to complete all the documents before the appointment.
  • You will need to complete the date and sign in front of the officer
  • Note that if witnesses must sign your document, both you and the witnesses must be present at the Embassy on the day of your appointment. Witnesses must have their own original official and valid pieces of identification. It is your responsibility to ensure that your witnesses meet the eligibility criteria.
