You cannot get married at a Canadian embassy or consulate. Canadian consular officials do not perform marriage ceremonies, and they do not have to attend a marriage ceremony in a foreign country.
Notarial services
Consular officials do not provide any legal advice or represent a person in court. The office provides the following notarial services, by , to Canadian citizens and, in limited cases, to non-Canadian citizens if the documents are intended for use in Canada.

Authentication/Attestation (certify the document signature, the position of an official and the seal are genuine):
- Documents issued in Canada must be authenticated by ¶¶ÒùÊÓƵ in Ottawa before the office will certify the documents (fees apply).
- Witness a signature on a Statement in lieu of certificate of non-impediment to marriage abroad form (fees apply).
- Clients requiring information about authenticating documents while outside of Canada, refer to Authentication of documents.
Certified copy (certify the document is a true copy of the original):

Emergency passports
The Embassy is authorized to issue a temporary passport which will have to be exchanged within 60 calendar days upon issuance of your new regular passport. There is an additional fee for this service which will be in addition to your regular passport fee. The issuance of this type of passport remains exclusively at the discretion of a Consular Officer and may only be issued in case of an urgent situation.
Passport for children
All passport applications for children must now include, in addition to all other documents, their original Long Birth certificates stating their parent’s names, regardless if the child was born in Canada or abroad. A certified copy of each parent’s ID is also required.
Name required
The name you request in your passport must be the same name as the one you are registered with in the Norwegian national registry (folkeregisteret). If you use a different name, or omit parts of your name in your passport, you may be refused your resident permit from the Norwegian police. This name must also match your supporting identification.
