Beth Richardson, Consul General of Canada in Minneapolis, United States
Message
I am honoured to have been named Consul General in Minneapolis, the Government of Canada’s senior representative in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
I have spent many years living and working abroad, and nowhere has felt as familiar as here. Having grown up in a military family on the Canadian prairies, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to live and work in a region with a landscape, economy, way of life, and values so close to how I was raised.
I’m eager to work with business, government and civic leaders in the Upper Midwest and Great Plains to build economic growth, safeguard our security both at and beyond our shared border, and foster resilient partnerships between these states and Canada. I am grateful to the traditional Indigenous guardians of this land, and look forward to sharing experiences on building a sustainable future, with respect for the abundant resources we steward.
As an avid photographer, I’m struck by the breathtaking beauty of the landscapes and wild places of the Upper Midwest, and can’t wait to go exploring and discover all the great treasures in this region.
