Statement from the international community in Colombia on the presentation of the Truth Commission's report

Bogota, June 29, 2022. The undersigned members of the International Community welcome and highly value the presentation of the Report of the Truth Commission that took place yesterday, which gathers the history of the armed conflict, the pain of the victims and their experiences of resilience and peace building, in a rigorous work of more than three years throughout the national territory.

The Integral System for Peace, of which the Truth Clarification Commission is a part, is the result of the Peace Agreement. An innovative system that seeks a balance between the need to sustain peace, impart justice, restore victims and create the necessary conditions for non-repetition, incorporating the gender perspective.

In this sense, the Truth Commission Report materializes the commitment to put the victims at the center of the Peace Agreement, key to establish the basis for reconciliation and peace building in Colombia.

Now begins, for society and State authorities, the task of disseminating and developing the recommendations of the Truth Commission Report, to achieve the full implementation of the Peace Agreement, and to eradicate violence from the territories.

The International Community will continue to support the consolidation of peace and the guarantee of victims' rights in Colombia.
