Collections of the Jules Léger Library
The Jules Léger Library’s collection provides access to a wide range of resources, including books, periodicals, government publications, electronic databases, and other research materials relevant to the department’s areas of focus, covering international relations, diplomacy, trade, development, and international law.
The Jules Léger Library also includes distinct collections:
- Official documents collection – Over 40,000 documents from Canadian and foreign governments, United Nations, and other international organizations
- Travel collection – travel books by country, region, and theme. Includes a small collection of atlases.
- Reference collection – statistical publications, biographies, business sources, trade indexes, dictionaries
Jules Léger collection
The Jules Léger Library is named in honour of Canada’s 21st Governor General, whose personal collection of books was donated to the Library. Prior to his appointment as Governor General, Jules Léger had an extensive career in Canada’s diplomatic service that included several ambassador postings. The Jules Léger collection does not circulate.
