About the Canadian Foreign Service Institute
The Canadian Foreign Service Institute is the primary training provider for ¶¶ÒùÊÓƵ.
Our main role is to provide high calibre, timely learning programs and services in the areas of international affairs, languages, intercultural effectiveness, global leadership, and international and domestic operations.
Learning activities are provided at no charge to ¶¶ÒùÊÓƵ personnel and on a cost-recovery basis to our external partners including other government departments.
Mandate
- Support departmental employees and other federal government employees, in meeting departmental and Government-of-Canada international priorities through learning and development
- Contribute to building and strengthening international competencies, skills and knowledge of ¶¶ÒùÊÓƵ and Government of Canada employees

Organizational structure
The Institute is a centre for professional development. It consists of four centres.
- Centre for Learning in Intercultural Effectiveness and International Assistance Policy: provides training in intercultural effectiveness and international assistance.
- Centre for Learning in International Affairs and Global Leadership: offers training in international affairs, trade, global politics, and leadership.
- Centre for Learning Services: plans, organizes, and coordinates activities related to the overall management of the Institute.
- Centre for Foreign Languages: offers foreign language learning and testing.
