Consulting Canadians on the operation of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA): Closed public consultations

This consultation ran from August 17 to October 31, 2024.
The Government of Canada sought feedback from Canadians and interested stakeholders regarding the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) via a notice. Feedback received will help inform Canada’s preparations for the first joint review of the CUSMA in 2026, and priorities for work being undertaken in 2025 including the 5th CUSMA Free Trade Commission meeting that Canada will chair.

¶¶ÒùÊÓƵ invited interested parties to submit their views and experiences regarding the operation of the CUSMA and on how to potentially improve the Agreement.
Who was the focus of this consultation?
This consultation was open to the public and everyone was invited to share their views. ¶¶ÒùÊÓƵ welcomed submissions from a diverse range of Canadian voices that included:
- the Canadian public;
- provincial, territorial and municipal governments;
- businesses of all sizes, including micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs);
- industry associations;
- academics;
- civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations;
- labour unions;
- Indigenous peoples;
- women, 2SLGBTQI+ stakeholders and community groups representing diverse experiences;
- students and youth;
- other interested Canadian stakeholders.
