Number of projects to be funded: 3 to 5 projects
Overall budget: Can$20,000,000
Objectives: Improve community health and equitable One Health empowerment for poor, marginalized and Indigenous women and girls in areas with a high prevalence of zoonotic and human-animal-environment interface-related diseases. This DIMI initiative invited applicants to submit concept notes expected to contribute to the prevention of, preparedness for and response to human-animal-environment interface-related diseases at the local community level.

Eligibility (by invitation only)

• Organizations invited to submit an application were selected based on criteria ensuring a wide range of multi-sectoral expertise and experience covering both One Health specifically and indirectly related to One Health. Selection criteria included the following:
• Must be a Canadian organization.
• Must have a solid understanding of the critical interlinkages between human, animal and environmental health, as well as the major drivers of zoonotic diseases at the community level.
• Must have significant experience supporting and working with local partners and must include local civil society partners.
• Must have experience in improving sustainable and equitable community practices, influencing policy and training workers at the community level in the health, agriculture/livestock and environmental sectors.
• Must have experience in integrating gender equality into projects, with a particular focus on poor, rural, Indigenous and marginalized women and girls.
• Must have experience in implementing multi-sectoral approaches.
