Objectives: Support local women’s rights organizations (WROs) and feminist movements advancing gender equality and the rights of women and girls in Senegal. This DIMI initiative invites applicants to submit concept notes for undertaking activities related to the expansion and renewal of Canada Women’s Voice and Leadership Program including enhanced support for WROs, LBTQI+ organizations and women human rights defenders (WHRDs) working in crisis- and conflict-affected settings.
Eligibility (by invitation only)
Organizations invited to submit a concept note have demonstrated experience in supporting gender equality and women’s rights in Senegal. They meet the following preliminary criteria:
- They are Canadian civil society organizations (legally incorporated in Canada) that have an office in Senegal or French-speaking West Africa.
- Development experience:
- Organizations have significant experience delivering development results related to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, ideally in Senegal and/or the West African (francophone) sub-region.
- Organisations have experience in supporting women's organizations and/or LBTQI+ groups and feminist networks.
- Organizations have established relationships and networks with women's and/or LBTQI+ organizations and other diverse groups within the feminist movement, in Senegal and/or the sub-region.
- Organizations have demonstrated commitment and experience in feminist programming principles and practices (e.g. intersectionality, local management, gender transformation).
- Operational capacity:
- Organizations have more than five (5) years of experience in managing, delivering and achieving gender equality results, ideally in one or more countries.
- Organizations have minimum of five (5) years' experience in managing projects worth CAD$6M or more, regardless of funding source.
- Organizations have a feminist monitoring, evaluation and learning system.
An invitation to submit a concept note is not a promise for funding. GAC reserves the right to fund or not a project in the context of this process.
