Overall Budget: Up to CAD $7,000,000
Objectives: Support local women’s rights organizations (WROs) and feminist movements working for women’s rights and gender equality. The selected project will: enhance organizational sustainability of local WROs to deliver their mandates; strengthen programming and advocacy by WROs and women human rights defenders to advance gender equality and empower women and girls; and increase the effectiveness of sub-national, national, regional and global women’s rights platforms, networks and alliances to affect policy, legal and social change.
Eligibility (by invitation only)
Organizations invited to submit a concept note have demonstrated experience in supporting gender equality and women’s rights in Somalia. They meet the following preliminary criteria:
- Type of organization: Canadian or local (Somalian) civil society organization (legally incorporated) with an office in Somalia.
- Experience in:
- Feminist programming, principles and practices.
- Feminist monitoring, evaluation and learning.
- Supporting WROs, LBTQI+ groups and feminist networks, with established relationships with these and other diverse groups within Somalia’s feminist movement.
- Managing, delivering and achieving gender equality results, ideally in Somalia.
- Managing development projects valued at CAD $2M or more.
