Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership – Tanzania – Funding opportunity by invitation only

This funding opportunity is part of 抖淫视频’s (GAC’s) Department-Initiated – Multiple Invitations (DIMI) pilot project within GAC’s funding processes for international assistance. Only organizations invited by GAC are eligible to apply.

Action area: Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Girls

Overall budget: Up to CAD$5,000,000
Objectives: In alignment with the renewed WVL program, the main objective of this initiative is to increase the enjoyment of human rights by women and girls in all their diversity and the advancement of gender equality in Tanzania by:

• Enhancing organizational sustainability of local Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs)/vulnerable  groups to deliver their gender equality mandates;
• Strengthening programming and advocacy of WROs/vulnerable groups and Women Human Rights Defenders (WRDs) to advance gender equality and empower women and girls;
• Increasing effectiveness of sub-national, national, regional and global women’s rights platforms, networks and alliances to affect policy, legal and social change.

Eligibility (by invitation only)

Organizations invited to submit a full proposal have demonstrated experience in supporting gender equality and women’s rights in Tanzania. They meet the following preliminary criteria:

• Canadian civil society organization (legally incorporated in Canada) with an office in Tanzania;
• Can demonstrate substantial experience (at least 5 years within the last 10 years) of experience managing, delivering and achieving international development results related to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Tanzania;
• Can demonstrate commitment to and experience in feminist programming, principles and practices (e.g. intersectionality, locally-led, gender-transformative);
• Can demonstrate significant experience (at least 2 projects within the last 10 years) supporting Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), vulnerable groups and feminist networks (e.g. direct funding, capacity building) in Tanzania;
• Can demonstrate established relationships and networks with WROs, and other diverse groups within the feminist movement in Tanzania;
• Financial capacity: Can demonstrate experience managing projects valued at $5,000,000 CAD or more, regardless of the source of funding.

Please note that an invitation to submit a full proposal is not a promise for funding. GAC reserves the right to fund or not a project in the context of this process.
