Mr. President,

Canada has supported new research that explores the links between the proliferation of weapons, particularly small arms and light weapons, and sexual and gender-based violence.

We reiterate the need to fully implement other commitments, such as the Arms Trade Treaty and the UN Program of Action on Small Arms, which can contribute to the long-term structural prevention of violence sexual and gendered.

We will continue to support the work of the International Criminal Court and, where the Court lacks jurisdiction, we will explore other ways to ensure accountability for these crimes.

Finally, we must listen to the experiences of all survivors -- including women and girls, men and boys, and members of the LGBTIQ+ community. Canada is committed to working with survivors.

Thank you.
