Public service delivery
Public service delivery is essential in ensuring progress toward sustainable development. Inequality, lack of transparency and corruption lead to poor service delivery.
This in turn means that groups or individuals may lack access to quality services like water and sanitation, education, health care and infrastructure.
We can contribute to ensuring equal access to services by:
- informing citizens about their rights and entitlements
- involving users in design and decision-making forums
- strengthening accountability mechanisms at different levels of government
- bringing services closer to the people through decentralised governance
Service delivery in the education sector
In Burkina Faso, Canada supports the Ministry of National Education and Literacy to improve the accessibility and quality of education for young people.
This is achieved by more effectively controlling management practices in order to increase the service delivery in the education system. The project also includes building schools and classrooms, teacher training, and supporting the development of primary and post-primary education programs.
